Alyssa Iida
Hi! My name is Alyssa Iida (she/her), and I am a third-year Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology major & Disability Studies minor. I joined GCSIG my freshman year with some interest in the profession, and since being in the club I have solidified my passion for Genetic Counseling. This club has given me so many opportunities to hear first-hand experiences of Genetic Counselors and truly understand what the job entails along with the impact they have on their patients! I am so excited to meet you all and hope our club can serve you throughout your journey to becoming a GC!

Harini Nagappan
Hi, my name is Harini Nagappan (she/her), and I am a fourth-year Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics major. I found out about genetic counseling while looking for a career related to healthcare and joined GCSIG. Through this club I have gotten to learn more about this career path, get research opportunities, and connect with peers and mentors. I have truly found my passion and love for GC through this wonderful community and I am so excited to share it with all of you!

Isabel Watson
Hi! My name is Isabel Watson (she/her), and I am a fourth-year MIMG major. I first joined this club because even though I have had a love for genetics for a long time, I was not yet sure of what genetics-related career I wanted to pursue. Through GCSIG, I learned about the field of genetic counseling directly from genetic counselors themselves, and it has only made me more excited to become one myself. Welcome to the club, and I look forward to an amazing year with you all!

Riley Sisson
Hi, my name is Riley Sisson (she/her) and I am a third-year Computational Biology major. I became interested in genetic counseling in high school and was excited to find GCSIG my first year here at UCLA. I have enjoyed learning more about the profession so far and am looking forward to meeting you all!

Andrea Nieves
Hello! My name is Andrea Nieves (she/her), a first-generation student! I am currently majoring in MIMG. I joined GCSIG my freshman year in hopes of expanding my knowledge of becoming a Genetic Counselor. I love everything that this club offers. It has helped me become more confident in pursuing this field, and I’ve gotten to meet so many amazing people! I am always learning something new about GC, and I can’t wait for future members to also learn alongside us!

Hi! My name is Cameron (she/her), and I’m a second year Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics major. I joined GCSIG during my freshman year with absolutely no knowledge of genetic counseling. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to learn about the steps to becoming a genetic counselor and explore the many different career paths within the field.
This experience has helped me discover a career that aligns with my interests and goals! I hope joining GCSIG can help you learn more about genetic counseling and find a path that’s right for you, too. I’m so excited to meet you!
