MEET THE 2023-2024 GCSIG BOARD!
PRESIDENT
Charlotte Chui
Hi! I'm Charlotte Chui (she/her), and I am a fourth-year molecular, cell, and developmental biology (MCDB) major, with minors in society & genetics and linguistics. As soon as I learned about the field of genetic counseling, it instantly sparked my interest, with its mix of genetics, advocacy, counseling & empowering patients, and science education. I have been part of GCSIG since my freshman year, and I'm looking forward to this year with the SIG!
VICE PRESIDENT
Bailey Giovanoli
Hi everyone! I’m Bailey, a fourth year majoring in Human Biology and Society with a minor in Global Health. In my free time, I love exploring outdoors or catching up on a book (or both)! I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and continuing my exploration of Genetic Counseling with the GCSIG this year.
SECRETARY
Hailey Mendelsohn
Howdy! I’m Hailey Mendelsohn (she/her). I am a third year MCDB major with a minor in biomedical research. I have always been interested in genetics, and I joined the SIG my freshman year to learn more about the different careers in the field of genetics. Although I am more interested in the research side of things, I still find it extremely valuable to hear perspectives from those who interact directly with patients. We get to speak with many professionals and graduate students in the SIG, and it has been so interesting to learn about the field! Outside of GCSIG, I play water polo for UCLA’s club team. I also love to draw and play video games! See you around!

I have been a part of GCSIG ever since I learned about the field, and it has been an amazing experience getting to know peers and professionals and students! Outside GCSIG, I am a HIV Test Linkage Counselor, volunteer with the Crisis Text Line and ConnectMyVariant, and conduct research in Dr. Gomperts’ Lab at UCLA.
OUTREACH DIRECTOR
Elsa Couvillon
Hey! I’m Elsa Couvillon (she/her), a fourth year MCDB major and biomedical research minor. I’m interested in genetic counseling because I love how it encompasses molecular genetics, research, clinical interaction, and sociology all in one! I joined GCSIG initially because I wanted to learn more about genetic counseling as a potential career path. Outside the SIG, I row for UCLA, conduct research in UCLA’s Braybrook Lab, and volunteer with the Crisis Text Line as well as the club Bruins Fighting Pediatric Cancer (BFPC).
